Baby Steps

Most of us have very busy lives. We tend to find ourselves saying that there are not enough hours in the day for us to do everything we want to do. However, one thing I have learned is that people make time for what they want to. Whether it is spending an hour in the gym or watching an episode of Game of Thrones, we make time for the things we deem important. I believe it is important to do at least one thing to better oneself everyday. Even if it is as simple as a 10 minute meditation, I see that as a day that I became better. Find something to do everyday that makes you a little bit better than the day before.

Progress. It doesn’t matter if you can dedicate 10 hours or 10 minutes. Sometimes we get discouraged and fail to attempt a certain task because we feel we can’t dedicate enough time to it. For example, you may usually workout for an hour but you only have 20 minutes available today so you decide there is no point in going to the gym. Instead, take a 20 minute walk around your neighborhood. It may not be what you are used to but it is progess in your physical health. Or maybe you have a book you have been wanting to read but can’t ever seem to find a few hours of time to sit down and make some progress in it. Don’t just wait until the perfect time. There is never a perfect time to do anything. If you have 10 minutes of down time as you get ready for bed, read for 10 minutes. It won’t feel like much but even if you did that, the seemingly bare minimum, in a week you are 35-70 pages in to a book that may have been saying you are going to read for 2 months now.

Aim to progress yourself physically, mentally, spiritually, and financially everyday. You don’t have to go for the home run hit and lose 30 lbs in a month or double your income this month. You simply have to improve and keep improving until you reach your goals. Have patience, enjoy the journey, and don’t be afraid to take baby steps.
