Rise Above

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”– Gandhi

Someone once told me that if you want to change the world, you must first change yourself. That has always stayed with me. If you want people to be more loving, you yourself must love more. If you want people to be less selfish, you yourself must give more. If you believe that the human race should be more united, you must first be more accepting.

Evolving takes effort. You have to make a conscious effort to rise above your circumstances. To no longer accept things as the way they are and to look to improve oneself. It isn’t always easy, but that’s okay. Tests are not always easy. Aim to progress in some capacity everyday of your life. I personally aim to progress physically, mentally, financially, and spiritually in some capacity every day.

When a person becomes the change they want to see, they send this energy into the universe. Eventually, that change in energy you have made within yourself will influence those around you. Then it will influence those around them and so forth.

One thing I first noticed as I was beginning to evolve was that some of my friends began to evolve as well. Those of which that did not change or evolve with me went their separate ways; which is fine. It didn’t bother me. I understood that their soul was not ready yet and that not everyone will change overnight. One must learn to trust the process and let go of expectation. It is an uphill battle going against the norm and striving to be great. As for those who decided they are not ready to evolve, they will make a change in their own time. Like an ocean, there will always be another wave for them to catch.
